In this book  Evola examines the possibility of re-establishing a traditional state and the shape such a state would take. He criticises the petty bougeois–conservative notions of statecraft (e.g. Capitalist libertarianism) as well as totalitarian ones (e.g. Fascism), and assert instead by the pre–eminence of the Organic State.

The book covers the nature of race, the purpose of work, meta-history, overpopulation and several other issues. As such it is a good introduction to radical traditionalism.
