Cavalli-Sforza has given very important contribution to the understanding of human evolution and genetic differences between races. Of course, Cavalli-Sforza been criticized over that he presented the facts as some believe it could lead to ”racism”. Perhaps it is these preposterous accusations that led to Cavalli-Sforza also presented a somewhat muddled reasoning in the introduction to the book that goes out on the course are human races, but since these are not ”perfectly clean” one should not call them races . Then Cavalli-Sforza, if any, are well aware that no races in nature is completely clean so it becomes a somewhat contrived excuse.

Despite this unscientific excuse for research, the book is otherwise very interesting and a heavy evidence that most are various human races. The book compares the differences between nations in terms of genetic variation, language development and archaeological findings are reported which also shows how the different peoples moved during the story.

”’Genes, Peoples and Languages’ offers an astonishing Investigation Into The Past 100,000 years of human history and a rare, firsthand Account of Some of the Most Significant and gripping Scientific Work of Recent years. Cavalli-Sforza is one of the great founding fathers of archaeogenetics, and in this book he maps out some of .its grand themes. ”

Cavalli-Sforza is professor emeritus of genetics at Stanford University. This book is something of a more readable summary of the extensive book ”The History and Geography of the Human Genes”.
